Botswana ~Scheduled Budget
Safari
Day
One:
Trip starts in Kasane at 09:30 with a 3hr
boat cruise into the Chobe National Park, world renowned for its huge
herds of Elephant and Buffalo. Enjoy the sightings on offer, en route
to a pickup point where you will be met by your game drive vehicle and
transferred to our campsite in Ihaha.
After lunch and
settling in to your tents, an afternoon game drive on the riverfront is
bound to impress with the abundant bird life and vast amounts of animal
movement, as they come to quench their thirst in the
Chobe
River.
We then head back to camp for dinner around the campfire.

Day
Two:
Rise to an early breakfast and break camp to head for
Savuti, an area well known for its prolific predators including Lion and
Leopard. There is also an opportunity to view Cheetah and Wild Dog, two
of Africa’s most endangered predators.
We game drive our way from the
riverfront through the Chobe Enclave to re enter the park at Ghoha Hills
after negotiating our way over the notorious sand ridge and arriving at
midday in time to set up camp and have lunch under the large camel thorn
acacias.
After settling in at camp we explore the area including the
Bushman paintings and the Savuti Marsh. We return to camp to have
dinner under the stars and listen to the nocturnal sounds of owls,
Jackal, Hyena and maybe a Lion nearby…

Day
Three:
Once again we rise to an early breakfast and break
camp, heading south for Moremi. The entire transit is one long game
drive with plenty of game viewing opportunities en route. We set up our
camp in Moremi, for two nights, giving us a chance to explore the area
at leisure without rushing and have lunch in our new camp. After
settling in and having set up camp we head out on a game drive either to
the Dombo Hippo Pools, or east along the Khwai loop both very rewarding
areas to drive.
Day Four:
After coffee and a light breakfast we head off early on a game drive
hoping to see the rare African Wild Dog and an abundance of other game,
including Zebra, Giraffe, Tsessebe and a host of other plains-game
species and hopefully predators. After a hearty brunch and a siesta
during the heat of the day, we have tea and head off for an afternoon
drive exploring a different area for more unique sightings. Return to
camp on the Khwai River for dinner under the huge Sycamore Fig trees.

Day Five:
Break camp and head down to Maun for a short
re-supply, giving you the opportunity to do a scenic flight over the
Okavango and the area we will be spending our next two nights. After
our brief stop we head into the delta, this section being the only one
on the trip where we get the opportunity to stretch our legs on guided
game walks. We will arrive at camp and have the chance to travel in a
mokoro, being slowly poled through the tranquil reed lined channels of
the Delta…sheer bliss. The region is rich in bird life and there is a
chance to see any, or all of Africa’s big five.
Day Six: We no doubt
will be woken early by the francolins; the noisiest alarm clock in
Botswana, this little bird is as loud as it is relentless. After
coffee, we head off on a game walk getting the opportunity to have a
more personal wildlife experience, checking various spoor and the
smaller fauna and flora and a myriad of interesting details missed when
driving through the bush.
We return for a big brunch and a siesta. There are
several ‘safe’ pools to swim in and those brave enough can join your
guide for a dip in the refreshing waters of the delta.
The afternoon
activity will be another Mokoro trip and an opportunity to try your hand
at poling these craft –no easy feat. We return to camp for our final
fireside dinner.
Day Seven:
We break camp after breakfast and head for Maun where the trip ends.
Guests have several options at this point. Maun has
several regular flights to either: Johannesburg, Cape Town, Windhoek or Kasane.
Other options include a bus to Windhoek or guests can transit
back to Kasane with their guide, for a nominal fee.
There are also several charter companies that can
charter flights to Vic Falls or Livingstone- prices available on
request.
